Imagine waking up and BOOM snap-chat update.  This is exactly what happened on Wednesday, a totally new look to one of the best apps.( if you are about that life). The whole swipe thing was a whole different venture.( that is what the new feature contains, wink wink)

When i talk about the update, don’t worry the filters are still in place( yeah) only the outlook/layout.

Well it was bad on Wednesday at least on my end, messages, snaps all being on one side and yo! Where are the public figures and ”influencers”? It was just too much at once.

anyway the new app aims to separate ‘social‘ and ‘media‘, creating a clear distinction between interactions with friends(social) and content from publishers, creators, professionals or celebrities(media)

Snap-chat braced users for the big update, and a spokesperson said: “Updates as big as this one can take a little getting used to, but we hope the community will enjoy it once they settle in.” (a little? Y’all are funny)

I have been doing my research so I figured I would share with you how this new update works and whether it is worth being kept or for the trash.

Where are Stories?

Snapchat still opens to the camera but swiping left reveals a new ‘Friends’ page, where you’ll see Stories from the friends you talk to the most.

As well as Stories, this page is also where you’ll find your Friends’ message, snaps and group chats.

Group chats will also automatically get their own Story too.

How do I watch Stories?

To watch a friend’s Story, tap on the circular preview bubble to the left of their name.

Once you’ve watch a friend’s Story, you’ll be shown a preview of another friend’s Story.

Tap the screen to watch it, or swipe to skip it.

How do I find my friends?

While Snapchat used to order your friends’ Stories chronologically, it now ranks them based on which friends you interact with most.

To find a Story from a friend not in your top list, type their name in the search bar at the top of the Friends page.

How do I send a Snap?

Take a picture from the main page, and then try to send it to a friend – you’ll be met with the new Send To page.

The friends you interact with most will be at the top of this list, or you have the option to add to a new Story, My Story, Our Story, or Group Stories.

What is the Discover page?

Swiping right from the main screen now takes you to a Discover page, displaying content from publishers and people you follow.

Users now have the option to control what kind of content they see here – to see less of a certain type, tap and hold a tile, and tap ‘Unsubscribe’ or ‘See Less Like This.’

add to a new Story, My Story, Our Story, or Group Stories.

So now that you have your guide, are we learning and keeping the app or installing?

If you are keeping it, happy snapping. xoxo
