I thought and believed that today’s post would be Daniel Kuluuya. Our Ugandan brother doing the most for us and this country (that’s what I have been working on and couldn’t wait to gash about him)
Guess will save that for another day this month though. (wink wink, am for real)
I once read somewhere, ‘‘Give people their flowers while they can still smell them.”
Well we should all have given Radio those flowers. I just don’t think we let him know how much his voice was a blessing, how much of a talent and legend he was. Hit after hit from 2008 that we all enjoyed, 10 years!!! 10 years!!!
We all woke up to news that he was gone, at just 33 years.Should I have written this piece on their ten years of RAW? You know, show them how much their music met. Celebrated 10 amazing years of Radio and Weasel??
This is one bitter pill to swallow.
I didn’t know Radio personally but just like some of you we connected through music, y’all remember SWEET LADY, DUDU, KUKU, RING A BELL, ZUENA, BREAD AND BUTTER, STREET LIGHTS, WHERE YOU ARE, CAN’T LET YOU GO, MAGNETIC, NAKUDATA, FANTATSTIC, TUKIKOLE NEERA, PLENTLY PLETLY, JENNIFER,EKYAAMA, NYUMBANI,HELLENA, GUTAMIZA,BWONDEKAWO,JUICY JUICY,LESSU,VUVUZELA,NAKUTAMANI, OWANA WABANDI, BYAGANA,NUMBER EMU, DON’T CRY, NKWAGALA, POTENTIAL, TAXI MONEY…..just to mention but a few.
This man gave most of us an understanding of local love songs, amazing love songs. (and don’t come to me with NE-YO, not today) this man changed the understanding of music for us the youth in Uganda, East Africa … We can’t forget his smooth melody.
Well not only love songs, but also inspirational, ABILITY, ,TALK AND TALK, ENENDA MUMASO, OBUDE, Radio and Wesael gave us anthems for 10 years, if that isn’t consistency I don’t know what is.
Y’all we all have that song from Radio and Weasel that cut it for us. For me I guess it was that AMASO jam, finally the big eyed club (which I am apart of ) was being put on the map.
Rest in Peace Mowzey Radio (Moses Sekiboogo)
It’s Hard to love Ugandan music without You featured somewhere.
We hope you sing with the angels.
